About Us

This organization is a 501(c) 3 non-profit corporation that is dedicated to the improvement of quality of life for seniors in the mountain town of Carbondale, Colorado and the surrounding communities of the Roaring Fork and Crystal River valleys. 

Our mission statement is:  

            Foster diverse educational and social programs for seniors of all ages.

 Senior Matters works with local and state governments, such as Garfield County and the Council on Aging.  We are recognized as a senior citizen caregiver for our region. 

Senior Matters is supported by grants, donations and fundraisers.  Our main fundraiser for the past several years has been the “End of Summer Roundup,” a food booth in conjunction with the Potato Day Bareback Bonanza, which celebrates Carbondale’s historical ties with ranching and livestock.

 Senior Matters also raises money by hosting a refreshment booth, serving snow cones and other treats, at the weekly summer Carbondale Rodeo.  We always need volunteers for this activity and others.
