People
There are many
people who have volunteered their time and energy to establish Senior
Matters in Carbondale. Some of these people are portrayed in this
site.
Virginia “gina”
Sterrett – gina had the original idea for Senior Matters …because
seniors matter! She hosted a senior-oriented radio program on KDNK
and the concept of a senior organization came from that involvement.
gina worked tirelessly to develop the organization and find funding.
Senior Matters is very grateful for gina’s efforts on behalf of
seniors. She was a Director Emeritus on the Senior Matters Board.
Virginia “gina” Sterrett left us on January 3, 2010. She will be missed
by all of us.
Beth Mohsenin – Beth
is a bookkeeper, who has volunteered to do the paperwork for Senior
Matters by serving as our Treasurer. She does a great job just keeping
all the forms and checks in order.
Diane Johnson –
Diane serves on most of the committees in Senior Matters, and has
represented the organization in many arenas. She is our representative
to the Parks and Recreation Commission and the Third Street Center
Tenant Group. Diane heads up the refreshment booth at the Carbondale
Wild West Rodeo during the summer months.

Mildred serves on the Senior Matters Board and is the Manager of the
RFTA Senior Transportation program. Mildred serves on the Council on
Aging.
Jan Senne – Jan has
vast experience with volunteer organizations, such as Habitat for
Humanity. She serves on the Senior Matters Board in many capacities.
Dee Blue – Dee is
our Board Secretary and brings a wealth of experience to the Senior
Matters Board of Directors. She has been a long time Carbondale
resident and has lots of interests in all things senior.
Mary Wheeler – Mary
is a Board Director who is a 20 year valley resident. She has worked in
the Judicial System and has volunteered for a variety of senior
activities, especially in the area of nursing. She has an interest in
preserving the histories of seniors. Mary serves on the Program and
Marketing Committees.
Bill Dunn – Bill is
a former restaurant expert in and around Carbondale for years. He will
be helping to develop classes for senior men.

Carbondale Wild West Rodeo refreshment booth each summer. Rusty is a
representative to the Council on Aging. She is a Director Emeritus on
the Senior Matters Board.
Pam Zentmyer – Pam
is the ex-officio Board member who represents the Carbondale Board of
Trustees. She has been working hard on the Third Street Center lease
for our new facility and serves on several committees. She is a
bookkeeper in her day job.

Randy serves as the Chairperson of the Senior Matters Board. He is a
retired veterinarian and former Carbondale mayor and college professor.

organization’s website.
